meet me!

I believe everyone deserves an outdoor space that feels like an escape, a backyard that feels like a resort, a garden that makes you stay outside a little longer, and a courtyard that gives back more peace than it demands work.
“A great garden gives moreto your life than it takes.”
Kelsie

Why can’t home feel like this every day?
For years, I found myself drawn to the same kinds of places: beautiful courtyards, old garden paths, shady gathering spots, and simply designed spaces that somehow felt like a getaway. No matter where I went, I kept asking myself the same question. That question led me into six years of studying plants, landscape design, and garden planning while transforming my own property one project at a time.

Built on a teacher budget.
What I’m most proud of is that it was built on a teacher budget and a teacher schedule. One tree one year. A garden bed the next. A pathway a few years later. No rush. No massive renovation. Just thoughtful decisions that built on each other over time. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, spent money on the wrong plants, and learned a lot of lessons the hard way so you don’t have to.

I love gardening, but I also love enjoying my garden.
Once summer arrives in Texas, you’ll usually find me sitting outside at sunset with a cocktail, admiring the garden, not spending four hours maintaining it in 105-degree heat. That’s why I’m passionate about helping people create outdoor spaces that are beautiful, low-drama, and realistic to maintain. Because the goal isn’t to create a garden that constantly needs you. The goal is to create a place you genuinely want to be.
Beautiful. Practical. Yours.
Somewhere between Googling everything yourself and spending thousands of dollars on a landscape design plan, you’ll find Garden Best Friend. I help people create outdoor spaces that feel special, fit their budget, respect their timeline, and become more beautiful one smart decision at a time.
Most people already know how they want their space to feel. What they don’t always know is the best way to get there. That’s where Garden Best Friend comes in.
“Every plant looks good at the nursery. That’s the problem.”
the questions that actually matter
- What deserves my budget right now?
- What can wait until next year?
- What’s actually going to make the biggest impact?
- Why does the space still feel unfinished?
- Do I need more plants, or more structure?
- Should I focus on the patio, containers, shade, or the overall vision?
We’ll work with the budget you have, the timeline you have, and the maintenance level you actually want. One smart decision at a time.
